Konkona Sen is the daughter of famous actress and film-maker Aparna Sen. Konkona?s biological father is Mukul Sharma, a scientist and her step father Kalyan Ray is a scientist as well.
Konkona, who lived in Calcutta, attended the Calcutta International School and later St Stephen?s College in Delhi. Konkona?s love with cinema started as a kid when she made her debut in ?Indira? and was followed by ?Picnic?.
Konkona shot to fame in 2002 with ?Mr. and Mrs. Iyer? directed by her mom Aparna Sen. The movie not only got famous in the festival circuits but was also a hit in main stream cinema surprising many. In 2005, Konkona made waves with her performance in Madhur Bhandarkar?s ?Page 3? which was one of the biggest hits of the year; Konkona Sen won the National Award for her performance in the movie.
Konkona Sen met actor Ranveer Shourey during the making of her movie ?Mixed Doubles? and she has been dating him ever since. Konkona, again paired with her mom for ?15 Park Avenue? in which she played the character of a schizophrenia patient.
Konkona has won a lot of acclaim for her acting in Naseeruddin Shah?s ?Yun Hota To Kya Hota? and Vishal Bhardawaj?s ?Omkara?. Konkona is regarded as one of the most talented actress of the new generation and she has managed to carve her own niche in Bollywood.
In 2005, Konkona was ranked 11th on Rediff's "Top Bollywood Female Stars". She was later ranked 9th in 2006.
Konkona has made three appearances on Karan Johar's talk show Koffee with Karan. She appeared with her Mr. and Mrs. Iyer co-star Rahul Bose in 2004, and later on along with Kunal Kapoor and Ritesh Deshmukh. In 2007, she hosted a programme called My Brilliant Brain, which aired on National Geographic Channel.
